Cancel your hideous skirt convention — The Devil Wears Prada 2 is almost here. Ever since the sequel was announced, the rollout — which has moved at what can only be described as a glacial pace — has been relentless. Yes, there was the barrage of outfit spoilers no one asked for, sparking a sartorially induced internet spiral (we still have questions about those black outfits). And there was the teaser trailer, featuring what was accurately called a “diabolical move.” But there’s also been an onslaught of merch that would in no way thrill Miranda. Case in point: Target’s line of questionable pull-on pants and shirts with the question “What would Miranda Priestly do?” (definitely not wear that); a secret Starbucks menu (are you more of a Nigel or a Miranda?); and a Diet Coke “Canny Pack” (obviously, designed by James Holt). Though, even Miranda would approve of this surprisingly good Walmart collection (that skirt? groundbreaking). Not to mention the collab precisely zero people expected. Correct, the one with that little magazine Runway is based on, which included both the scariest elevator ride and the most fun-looking limo ride (it should’ve been the cover), a delightful convo between Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci (Anne, we’re not sure how we’d feel about being compared to that pasta shape), and this Pulitzer Prize-worthy investigation into who was the real Emily.

Now, we know what you’re about to say: Oh, don’t be ridiculous, Skimm editors, everybody wants this — which, fine, is true. We want the headlines about Anna Wintour’s very specific set critique and the cameos that ended up on the cutting-room floor, like this A-lister, whose scene was nixed due to a “creative decision,” and this controversial character, who there wasn’t time to add, according to the director (sure). Just like we want the moments designed to delight the internet: at least two sightings of that sweater (sorry, Anne, but this costar did it better), the cast sharing their conditions for joining the sequel (we’re with Tucci), Streep’s answer to whether she’d write a memoir (agree to disagree), Emily Blunt sharing her daughters’ reactions to the film (can you blame them?), and, of course, the Met Gala-level premieres. In the past week alone we’ve been blessed by Streep’s epic outerwear collection, a “deconstructed tuxedo dress” (something tells us Miranda would’ve done this), and Streep’s decidedly not-Miranda reaction to Blunt’s couture with a capital C gown (we’re not crying, you’re crying). With just days to go until we’re seated with our “butter Birkin,” we can’t help but wonder what’s still to come: A cube of cheese collab? Miranda appearing on Good Hang with Amy Poehler? A limited-edition Chanel boot? That’s all.
